Prohibited & Permitted Items ...

At Mountain Home Air Force Base we are happy to have you as our guests. We will do everything to ensure that your open house and air show experience is safe and enjoyable. Every effort will be made to minimize delays in entering and leaving the air show.  We ask for your cooperation in keeping potentially dangerous items safely outside the base. ALL bags will be quickly inspected and all individuals are subject to search prior to entering the main gates. PDF Version


The following items will not be permitted on the flight line and are subject to confiscation:

  • Weapons (regardless of permit) including firearms, knives (including pocket knives and multi-tools), replica or toy weapons
  • Coolers (exception: baby food/beverages)
  • Ammunition or any form of explosives
  • Pets (except service animals assisting those with disabilities)
  • Tents, Portable or temporary awnings
  • Large lawn chairs (exceptions: small folding camping chairs)
  • Bicycles, scooters, skateboards, heelies, rollerblades or rollerskates
  • Mace, pepper spray, and personal tasers/stun guns
  • Spray paint or Silly string
  • No outside alcohol
  • Laser Pointers
  • Glass Containers
  • Illegal Drugs
  • Medical marijuana
  • Grills or Fireworks
  • Excessive storage items such as briefcases or duffel bags and backpacks (exceptions: diaper bags, small purses, small camera cases and fanny packs)


All permitted items will be inspected prior to admission to the flight line. It is strongly recommended that spectators minimize the number and size of permitted items to reduce access time into the flight line area:

  • Sunscreen
  • Ear protection (plugs and head phones)
  • Sealed water bottles (two per person, no cases). Free water-refill stations will be available.
  • Hydration packs (Eg. CamelBaks – hydration only, no backpacks)
  • Sealed Ice packs (no loose ice permitted)
  • Walkie–talkies, scanners, HAM radios and/or portable AM/FM radios
  • Fanny packs and small purses (will be subject to search)
  • Folding chairs and camping chairs
  • Pre–packaged and/or sealed snack food
  • Diaper bags (will be subject to search)
  • Children’s wagons (non–motorized)
  • Baby food
  • Strollers 
  • Umbrellas
  • Wheelchairs and other items to assist with disabilities
  • Service dogs
  • Cameras, camcorders and binoculars. Visitors will be required to show the items work, and items must be small enough to carry by hand.

*Note:  Those working for media outlets (TV & Radio stations, newspapers, magazines, and websites) should contact Public Affairs at 208-828-6800 for media credentials which allow for more equipment to be brought onto Mountain Home AFB. 

Please use discretion in the quantity of the following items:

  • Inhalers • Baby bottles
  • Medications. Bring prescriptions with you and in marked medical containers. (Eg. Don’t bring medicine in Sunday through Saturday containers.)
